Colorful Opening Week - ENTHUSIASM SURROUNDS OPENING OF EXPOS 32ND
SEASON

MONTREAL, March 30 /CNW/ - The Montréal Expos open their 32nd season at
Olympic Stadium on Monday, April 3. The team hosts the Los Angeles Dodgers
from April 3-6 and takes on the San Diego Padres from April 7-9. Opening-week
promotional activities will be geared for the maximum pleasure of fans.
The season starts with a ``Two for One'' promotion. Participants must
clip a ``Two for One'' coupon from the Journal de Montréal or The Gazette and
present it at the Olympic Stadium ticket office along with their Multiservices
Desjardins card. With the purchase of one Terrace ticket, each person will
receive one free ticket. A limit of 3,000 tickets per game will be available,
and there is a limit of two coupons per person. All fans will also receive an
Expos wall calendar. This promotion is good only for games between April 4 and
7 inclusive.
A ``Family Weekend'' event takes place on April 8-9. The first 10,000
children aged 12 and under to go through the turnstiles on each day of that
weekend will receive a Pokémon game set of three cards with holograms of
Pokémons. After each baseball game, all children will be invited onto the
field to run the basses, meet Expos stars and, of course, Youppi! This opening
week is sponsored by Desjardins in cooperation with the Journal de Montréal
and The Gazette.
``Baseball is really back in Montréal and it's here to stay,'' said
Jeffrey H. Loria, Chairman, CEO & Managing Partner of the Montréal Expos.
``We're opening the 2000 season with great confidence and enthusiasm, and I
would like to say how happy I am to be associated with the new season and give
the Montréal fans the winning team they deserve.''
In addition to exciting baseball, Opening Week promises much else for
fans. Numerous other events are planned, including public entertainment and a
variety of activities. And on Home Opener April 3, J. Gaines of the Montréal
band The Soul Attorneys will be singing the national anthems.
