Game Story

MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- Doug Davis pitched eight superb innings as the Milwaukee Brewers completed their first three-game series sweep of the season with a 7-4 victory over the Montreal Expos. Davis (3-2) gave up three unearned runs and three hits while walking one and striking out two in his longest outing of the year. The lefthander threw 73 of 112 pitches for strikes, retiring 14 straight batters at one point. Bill Hall hit a two-run homer and Chad Moeller added two RBI for the Brewers, who erased a three-run deficit in each game of the series, opening it with wins of 8-5 in 14 innings and 4-3. Sun-Woo Kim (2-1) was hammered in defeat, surrendering seven runs and nine hits in 4 2/3 innings. Kim had two RBI for the Expos, who dropped their fourth straight game and fell to a National League-worst 10-25.
