JUPITER, Florida (Ticker) -- Matt Morris scattered seven hits 
over seven innings as the St. Louis Cardinals edged the Montreal
Expos, 2-1, in a Grapefruit League contest.

The Cardinals got their runs on sacrifice flies by Jim Edmonds
in the first inning and Mike Matheny in the second.

Morris made the lead hold up, surrendering only a solo homer to
Matt Cepicky in the sixth. He walked none and struck out two.

John Patterson took the loss, despite yielding only three hits
in five innings.
