Game Story
JUPITER, Florida (Ticker) -- Mike Mordecai's solo home run in
the bottom of the 10th inning lifted the Florida Marlins to a
3-3 tie with the Montreal Expos in a Grapefruit League contest
that included a benches-clearing incident.
The benches emptied in the third inning after Montreal starter
Joshua Karp hit Mike Lowell for the second time in as many
at-bats. There were no punches thrown and Marlins manager Jack
McKeon was the only ejection. McKeon was upset that Karp, who
allowed two runs and three hits in four innings, was not thrown
out of the game.
Florida starter Darren Oliver looked sharp, yielding two runs
and four hits in five innings with no walks and six strikeouts.
The Expos grabbed a 3-2 lead in the top of the 10th on pinch
hitter Rob Calloway's double and Andy Fox's infield single.
But the Marlins tied it in the bottom half on Mordecai's homer
off Gerardo Casadiego.
