Game Story
KISSIMMEE, Florida (Ticker) -- Claudio Vargas allowed three
hits in three impressive innings and pinch hitter Matt Cepicky
delivered a two-run homer as the Montreal Expos edged the
Atlanta Braves, 4-3, in a Grapefruit League matchup.
Vargas surrendered three singles and a walk, striking out two.
Randy Choate and Jeremy Fikac tossed a scoreless inning apiece
in relief.
Peter Bergeron and Endy Chavez had two hits apiece for Montreal,
which is 10-4 this spring. Montreal erased a 2-0 deficit with
a run in the seventh and Cepicky's two-run homer an inning
later.
Mike Hessman and Eddie Perez homered for Atlanta, which is 4-10
this spring.
Starter Russ Ortiz was impressive for the Braves, allowing two
hits and two walks in four innings. John Smoltz followed and
struck out one in a hitless inning. |
