PORT ST. LUCIE, Florida (Ticker) -- Larry Broadway's bloop
two-run single in the top of the ninth inning lifted the
Montreal Expos to a 3-2 Grapefruit League triumph over the New
York Mets.
After Livan Hernandez allowed two runs in the first, the veteran
righthander settled in and finished allowing five hits and a
walk in four innings. Rocky Biddle, Shawn Hill and Jeremy Fikac
combined to hold New York to two hits and a walk over the final
five innings.
New York starter Aaron Heilman tossed four hitless innings and
continues to stake his claim for the fifth starter's job. Mike
Stanton allowed a hit in a scoreless fifth and David Weathers
was effective over two innings.
Mike Cameron had two hits and a stolen base for the Mets, who
managed just seven hits.
