Game Story

MELBOURNE, Florida (Ticker) -- Joe Vitiello had two hits and drove in three runs to lead the Montreal Expos to a 7-3 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in a Grapefruit League game. Vitiello, who signed a minor league contract with the Expos after a strong season off the bench in Montreal last year, highlighted a six-run seventh inning with a bases-loaded, two-run single, giving the Expos a 4-3 lead. Randy Knorr cut Montreal's deficit to one run earlier in the inning with an RBI double. After Vitiello's hit, Juan Rivera smacked a two-run double. Bill Simas walked Scott Hodges with the bases loaded to force in the last run of the inning. The run was charged to Rodney Myers, who took the loss. Expos starter Tomo Ohka gave up two runs and five hits in three innings. Roy Corcoran tossed two scoreless innings to get the win. Odalis Perez started for the Dodgers and struck out three in two scoreless frames. Perez took the mound with a 2-0 lead after Adrian Beltre had an RBI single and Shawn Green added a run-scoring double.
