Game Story
LAKELAND, Florida (Ticker) -- Ivan Rodriguez began paying
dividends for his new club.
Rodriguez had two hits and drove in a run and Nate Cornejo
tossed two hitless innings as the Detroit Tigers posted a
5-4 Grapefruit League triumph over the Montreal Expos.
The Tigers' prized offseason acquisition, Rodriguez started
behind the plate and had hits in two of his three at-bats.
Carlos Pena's two-run homer in the fifth inning erased the
Expos 1-0 lead. Pena also homered in Wednesday's game against
Florida Atlantic University.
Juan Rivera drove in two runs with a single in the seventh
inning for the Expos. Terrmel Sledge had two hits, including
an RBI double, for Montreal.
Esteban Yan picked up the win in relief and Brian Schmack notched
the save with a scoreless inning. |
