Game Story

MONTREAL (Ticker) -- Zach Day was brilliant and Matt Cepicky gave him just enough help. Day scattered nine hits over eight innings and Cepicky doubled home a pair of runs to lead the Montreal Expos over the Philadelphia Phillies, 2-0. The performance by Day (2-1) was his best since he threw his only career shutout on May 1, 2003. The righthander was removed after throwing 110 pithces. He walked two and struck out one. The Expos managed just five hits, but Cepicky's two-out double in the sixth inning off Phillies starter Vicente Padilla (0-3) stood up. Rocky Biddle worked the ninth, earning his fifth save. Orlando Cabrera had two hits to extend his hitting streak to 10 games for the Expos, who snapped a three-game losing streak and beat the Phillies for the first time in six tries this year.
