Game Story

PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- It appears the real Pat Burrell is standing up for the Philadelphia Phillies. Burrell homered for the second straight game and Kevin Millwood notched his first win of the season as the Phillies posted a 6-3 victory over the Montreal Expos. Burrell, who hit .209 last season, recorded his fifth multi-hit game of the month and reached base three times, including a two-run homer with two outs in the first inning that propelled Philadelphia to an early 3-0 lead. Millwood (1-2) tossed seven innings, allowing three runs and seven hits while striking out seven. The 6-4 righthander earned his 12th victory - the most vs. any club - against the Expos in 19 starts. Bobby Abreu added his second homer of the season as insurance in the eighth inning and Billy Wagner picked up the save by working a perfect ninth. John Patterson (1-1) allowed three home runs in four innings and took the loss for Montreal, which has not scored more than three runs in a game this season.
